As you all know, I love President’s Choice and The Real Canadian Superstore. I think many of their products are awesome-tastic and I love that they have products for every kind of cook. You want to cook by just warming something from the freezer section.they’ve got that. Want to cook from scratch but you’re looking for a dipping sauce to give it that jolt of flavour.they’ve got that too. Well, now they have one more awesome feature.a rewards program!

Called PC Plus, their rewards program is a bit different from most out there. First, you sign up for a PC Plus card (which you can do online or in store), load your offers on to your card, check out store wide offers in the Insider’s Report, shop and collect points. Don’t worry, I’m going to give you a bit more detail in a sec. The points are then redeemable for cash that you can use in store for whatever your little heart desires. Twenty thousand points equals $20 (this is also the minimum amount to redeem). So those are the bare bones of the program but there are a few cool things that I left out. Have a smart phone?

Well, they have an app for PC Plus which is AWESOME. You can set it up with your card number and then you never have to carry your card again. The app displays your card barcode for the cashier to scan. You can also download the offers right from your phone. All you have to do is pull down the screen and click “Load All”. You can also see which offers you have used to earn points in the last week. As you use your card, your shopping information will be used to customize your offers.

Always make sure to look in the, though, because there are some great point offers there! My other favourite part of the app? The shopping list screen. I kind of suck at shopping lists. Wait, that’s not true. Lots and lots of lists. There are lists with 2 or 3 items on it strewn about my house never to be found or taken to the grocery store.

Inevitably I shop with a list only to come home and figure out I’ve forgotten one item that I really needed. Now I use the shopping list in the app and it works great (mostly because my phone is never far away). I keep a running tally and it never gets lost. Plus I can classify it by the type of item it is so that I can make my shopping more streamlined.

Life has just been too busy so far. One thing I did notice with the app is that the points don’t hit your account immediately. The first time I used my card, I looked at my points balance right after and there weren’t any there.

Of course I assumed that I had messed something up but lo and behold the points showed up a few hours later. Overall I think this is a pretty great rewards program and I can’t wait to see what new offers I get as I build my shopping information within the program. One thing to note.if you have a PC Financial card, this information already exists so your offers will be customized right away. Also, their customer service sucks - not the people, but the system - the website is not that clear on what to do if you card is lost and stolen. It just keep on asking you to key in the membership ID when you change your card status as a lost/stolen - but where do I put in my membership ID?? Also, the wait time of their customer service is forever - the average can be jumping 'back' to 3 minutes after they told you the average waiting time is 1 minute within 30 seconds. I tried to combine a separately registered PC Plus card into my PC Financial Card by calling them and they system was down while their custome service rep.

Was helping me and I was only being asked to call back again. I decided to cut my PC Plus card and I don't want to come back shortly. They really should think about the customer service. The cashier was wrong then. Report her to her supervisor. She wasn't listening during training. You still earn 10 points to the dollar if you have the basic silver pc mc or 20 points to the dollar if you have the world version, or 5 points per dollar for the pc debit.

For people who already have a pc financial card doubles as a pc plus card and a payment method with cashback bonus, this is so you don't have to carry yet another card in your wallet. Think of the pc plus program as bonus points on top of what your normally earn with a pc mc.
