Hi, thank you for reply. Yes, I knew about this page and tried to reseat memory modules and run memory test as described, but probably there is not a problem, because the memory test runs with OK result and reseated of memory modules did not help.

And I know that 5x blink should mean the system board issue, but it is too general. Do you think replacement of whole system board would be needed?

Please, do you know what (and why) password is required to enter BIOS and Boot menu? Cannot it indicate some more contrete problem?

I feel better knowing I'm not the only one stuck in a never ending support loop. I also have the same problem, I was told my support oem uses a different installer and can't help. They sent me this Error 'Invalid serial number' Acrobat 9 CS4 I don't have cs4, but the last paragraph 'If you previously installed Acrobat, then the serial number and activation information that was used during that installation is retained on your computer. This residual activation information conflicts with the activation of the newly installed version.

It's necessary to remove the residual activation information from the previous Acrobat installation.' Gave me a little hope. Since I have nothing left to lose, so I will be trying it. Unless anyone has figured anything else out. I also stumbled across this dell site from a different post It should allow you to redownload all OEM software including Adobe that was purchased on the pc. That may help if its the same pc, unfortunately this is a brand new pc, and I can't even deactivate. What a waste of money.

Hello from beautiful Greece. I have a probook and for many months it closed many times by it self. So i think that was fun problem.

I understand you don't have any sound in Windows 8. I suggest first trying to steps outlined inthis document. It covers the standard troubleshooting steps for no sound in Windows 8.I also noticed that this notebook doesn't have any official Windows 8 drivers. You should try installing the Windows 7 driver in compatibility mode instead of using the generic Windows driver. Many users have reported success with using Windows 7 drivers.

I recently made a post covering this topic. Take a look at ithere. Here is a linkto your notebook's drivers and software page.Let me know if this helps. I hope you're having a great weekend! It should be a 24-digit number commencing 1057 (DO NOT POST THE NUMBER IN THESE FORUMS).

I need a replacement. Current Battey details: 572032-001 SPS-BATT 6C 47WHr 2.2Ah LI ZZZ06047-CL (fetched the details from HP parts surfer) The label at the back of battery says HSTNN-LB88 I wanted to know if 1) I can use a 8-cell battery instead of 6-cell battery? 2) If my current charger will support 8-cell battery charging? 3) If using a 8-cell battery (or any compatible battery but with different part number) will cause any problem to hardware?

Thanks, Shriram. Hi Banhien, Thanks for the quick reply. I did search with the part number, but i wanted to upgrade to 8-cell. And with HSTNN-LB88 i couldn't find even one listing. Can you also help clarify if the part numbers HSTNN-OB88/HSTNN-XB88 (given below in the site you mentioned) are compatible with HSTNN-LB88 and be used to search for replacement. Any link to check compatible numbers would be great!!

I came across one listing for 572032-001 which mentioned HSTNN-IB89, HSTNN-OB88, HSTNN-OB89, HSTNN-W79C-7, HSTNN-XB88, so had a doubt if all refer to same battery model? Thanks, Shriram.
